Privacy Policy

Summary: Review workspaces and conversations are encrypted in app storage. Cloud requests send the selected material to the named provider or gateway. Exported files are readable documents.

Introduction

Techniciti SARL ("we", "our", or "us") operates the AI Council applications for macOS and iOS. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our applications.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. AI Council is designed to keep your data local and under your control.

App and website connections

A cloud request sends your question and included source or conversation context to the selected provider or gateway. Each service applies its own data policies.

This website loads Google Analytics, fonts and other external assets. Contact forms send the information you enter. These website connections are separate from encrypted app storage.

Local Data Storage

Review workspaces and conversations are encrypted in app storage. Cloud requests send the selected material to the named provider or gateway. Exported files are readable documents.

Conversations

Review workspaces and conversations are encrypted in app storage. Cloud requests send the selected material to the named provider or gateway. Exported files are readable documents. Optional iCloud sync uses your private CloudKit database. It requires iCloud access and compatible app settings. Local storage encryption does not make exported files private.

iCloud settings and usage history

When you are signed in to iCloud, your settings, including saved councils and chosen models, sync through iCloud key-value storage. Usage history is copied to your private iCloud database only if you turn on Sync usage history to iCloud in Settings. It is off by default.

API Keys

API keys you provide for AI providers are stored securely in your device's Keychain, the same secure storage used by iOS and macOS for passwords and sensitive credentials. We never have access to your API keys.

Provider and search keys, and the key that encrypts your conversations, are saved to Keychain as synchronisable items. If iCloud Keychain is on for your Apple ID, Apple syncs them, end-to-end encrypted, to your other devices. The app has no separate switch for this. To stop it, turn off iCloud Keychain in your Apple ID settings.

Settings and Preferences

Your application settings (such as theme preferences, selected models, and UI customisations) are stored locally in standard user preferences.

Local Models (macOS only)

Local-only review blocks cloud model requests and web search. Supported local models use device resources; availability depends on the device and model setup.

Third-Party Services

A cloud request sends your question and included source or conversation context to the selected provider or gateway. Each service applies its own data policies. Review the named route before confirming. An approved review uses that route and does not silently switch providers after a failure.

AI Provider Communications

When you send a cloud query, your question and included context go to the selected provider or gateway. The service's privacy policy governs how it handles that data:

We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of any AI provider you choose to use.

Local Model Operation (macOS only)

Local-only review blocks cloud model requests and web search. Supported local models use device resources; availability depends on the device and model setup.

Where a cloud request can go

A cloud request goes only to the route you select. Depending on your edition and settings, that route is one of these:

Web search (optional)

When you turn on web search, a search query based on your question goes to the search services you have set up with a key: Brave Search, Exa, Tavily, Kagi, Perplexity, SerpAPI, You.com or Google Gemini grounded search. If one fails, the app can try the next. Each service applies its own policy. Local-only review blocks web search.

Other connections the app makes

These requests carry no question or conversation text:

Data Security

We implement several security measures to protect your data:

Your Rights and Control

You have complete control over your data:

Children's Privacy

AI Council is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, please contact us so we can address the situation.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
